This is the digital age, everything worth while can be uploaded, downloaded, viewed and shared. This includes your favorite books, works of art and even landmark laws. We also live in the golden age of television and art films and classics are easier to watch than ever.

These movies and tv shows aren’t just entertainment they have philosophies, symbolism, complex characters and themes and genius writing. Perhaps, it is a result of the growing need of people to have visuals in every form of media they consume. So it stands to reason that todays great artists may move to movies and tv shows rather than books.

I’m referring to shows like The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, The Newsroom and West Wing as well as movies like Nomad Land, The Darkest Hour, Her and The Joker.

In my opinion these examples and others offer the narrative richness and lessons that can be learned from books. Movie and tv show quotes are even quoted and analyzed online and in college classes.

What value do movies and tv shows have to you?
